Biography
Owner & Founder of BMC FITNESS: Brock Cunico
Growing up in the small town of Pence, Wisconsin with a population of 198 people where everybody lives the same lifestyle, I always had a drive to be different among my peers. Coming from a small area where everybody knows everybody, I always wondered what was out there and how I could reach out to do something other than what was considered "normal".
As a teen, I was always physically active in non-traditional sports. As other kids played sports such as football and baseball, I dedicated myself at an early age to skateboarding and snowboarding. I grew to love what I was involved in, as it became a great hobby and passion. Striving to be different, people looked down and doubted me, and didn't think that what I was doing was productive for my "future" because I didn't fit the so called "mold" of what a normal teen was. But in all reality my time was focused on things that didn't rely on team work or anybody else to make improvements. That said, the only person that could make me fail would be myself. Knowing this, and in control of my own destiny throughout high school, I practiced and trained every single day. Shrugging off the negative flak from others opinions, continuing to still look up, over time I entered and won many skateboard competitions, becoming featured in many videos in skate shops throughout the mid west and also working as a snowboard instructor as an after school job. I was having fun enjoying life being able to do what I loved to do, and help inspire people to do the same.
At the age of about 15, my father who was a hockey coach and my brother a semi pro hockey player at the time, were people that I looked up to. My brother, who accomplished some big mile stones at a young age, made me want to do the same. Physically active into weight training and being involved in a tough and brutal sport, I wanted to be big and strong like him too. This is where my life took a turn and I lifted my first weights in my parents basement.
Still skateboarding and snowboarding, I started to include weight training into my hobbies. Doing it for fun and to stay in shape, I loved how I could be in control of changing my body as the results came from repetition of practice like everything else I was doing. I didn't have to rely on anybody else to see progress, just as I didn't have to with my skateboarding and snowboarding as it was something I was familiar with and could relate to by applying myself to what I was interested in.
With only one year of working out under my belt, at the age of 16 I fell in love with it, turning an after school hobby into a new found passion of mine. The many hours I put into my other sports I equally put into my training, and at that time the results of what can happen when you really try came to a reality to me. With my father and brother as house-hold role models to what I wanted to see from my training, it gave me motivation to attain the image and results I was going for.
Two years later, after graduating high school at the age of 18, I found myself in very good shape with friends and family now coming to me for advice on how they could see the same results for themselves. Even from the people that once doubted me, I was finally gaining respect as my hard work showed. This gave me great satisfaction to know that others looked to me for guidance and support of the very thing I grew to love. This was another turning point in my life, as I found myself wanting to help people learn and see the results they wanted. So, wanting to gain more experience and knowledge in my field, I packed my bags and moved to Orlando Fl, and enlisted and graduated from The National Personal Training Institute receiving a diploma as a certified Health Practitioner, Nutritional Consultant, and qualifying in First Aid, and CPR.
Immediately after graduating from NPTI, with excitement to get started on my journey, I moved to various places working as a Personal Trainer / Nutritional Consultant. At this time my training and working out started to grow into a lifestyle. What once was a hobby, was now something I lived everyday being able to train and help others within the same day. With fitness now as my life or stepping stone for my everyday living, I set some new goals for myself. Looking upon many fitness magazines for new motivation I said "one day I will be in the pages of those magazines".
Therefore after, I snapped some pics of my progress I landed a deal with Silver Model Management out of NYC. Two weeks later I was flown out to NYC to do some video shoots with a top fitness model website called www.strengthnet.com, and photo shoots with well name photographers such as Michael Tammaro, and some castings for some big name companies . At the age of 20, two years later, I landed my first spread in Muscle & Fitness Magazine. The very thing I dreamed to accomplish, I brought to reality within two years. To see my face among magazine pages of the top fitness magazine nation wide and newspaper tabloids was breathtaking. This is where it really set in that you can really do anything with your life if you try. For the many who said you couldn't do this, or you couldn't do that, yet another time their negativity drove me to see through and accomplish something that was once a dream, thought up from my passion, driven from my lifestyle, and then becoming a reality.
Over the following years I continued on my path, enjoying my life for what I had and what I became from the ground up. Not only in the sense of psychical terms, but as a person, how I lived my life, and for the things I set forth to be done, making those dreams come true when people thought differently. Within the past 5 years I would be seen managing two health clubs, and Personal Training helping over 140 clients achieve their goals. I also would be doing more photo-shoots with top fitness photographers such as Pat Lee, and Jeff Sygo, as well as being seen many more times among the pages of Muscle & Fitness, Reps, Men's Fitness, and many other health and fitness magazines. I also would be featured in a published book, called 101 Muscle Building Workouts & Nutrition Plans sold among Barnes & Nobles, and various book stores all over the world.
To be able to change your life to how you want to live it is something we all are in control of doing. No matter what anybody will tell you, no matter the circumstances, the actions you take part in today, will be the road for your future tomorrow. Let me help you experience something life changing from the ground up. Conditioning your body and mind to the surroundings you wish around you is the building blocks and stepping stones to a happy, successful life. You are in the drivers seat, the road you choose will determine where you end up. The sky is the limit!
